May 2008
Welcome to the combined site of Lorraine Torrence Designs and Grainline Gear (my second garment pattern line which I purchased from Gina Bronow in 2000.) We hope you will find the site interesting and easy to use. I invite you to be in touch with me (see "Contact Us" at left) with any comments or questions about using the site ... or anything at all for that matter!
Exciting news!! After many years, I have decided to republish my first book, Design Essentials: The Quilter's Guide myself. It just came from the printer in Hong Kong and I am delighted to be able to offer it to you with a new cover and a revised resources page. Everything else is the same. Order your autographed copy today!
I am eager to share with you a teaching venue for me in 2009 that you are sure to enjoy. I'll be teaching a 5 day class in Shifting Perspectives at Quilting Adventures...Hill Country Style near Kerrville, Texas. This is one of the premier Quilting Conferences in the country and you'll be taken care of in style. Check out their website at www.quilting-adventures.com
For those of you accustomed to reaching me on my 800 number, I regret to say that you will no longer be able to do that. I have had to cancel the 800 number because some crafty telemarketers have figured out how to use my number. She-e-e-e-sh! But you can still reach me all the other ways that are still listed on the "Contact us" page.
I am happy to be able to provide my friend Priscilla Bianchi, Guatemala's premier quilt artist, a venue to sell her beautiful new book "Caliente Quilts!" If you are interested in it, click on "SHOP" in the menu to the left, then scroll down to "BOOKS." Click on Priscilla's book - on the far right - and you will have an opportunity to purchase it. Priscilla will get all the income for the book, less my expenses. It's a fabulous new book and is available now. (If you purchase her book and anything else on my website, the book will be shipped separately from my merchandise.)
In the "Shop" section of the website, don't miss the new SILK DUPIONI FAT QUARTER PACKS FROM LIBAS SILK featured in the November issue of Quilters Newsletter Magazine. You will also find a KIT FOR OUR SILK VERSION OF the NATIVE RAINBOW quilt pattern by Laurie Shifrin in both in the Quilt Kits category of the shopping cart and in the Silk category. Stunning!
I've also been traveling a lot to teach. If your group would like a teaching proposal that is more detailed than the information you can see on the "Classes" page of this web site, call, e-mail or write and I will respond with a complete teaching packet. A class from my new book "Shifting Perspectives" is a popular choice lately!
My 2006 BERNINA GARMENT, which premiered in Houston at International Quilt Market and Festival last Fall, is pictured in the Garment Gallery. It was chosen one of the Top Ten Finalists for Viewers' Choice. It was fun to work in wool and a different palette for me: pastels!
